II's Olympic Development Program (ODP) 2008-2009 tryouts for U13 – U16 boys and
girls pools will be held on May 10th, May 17th, and May 18th at the Morgan Hill
Sports Complex. The boys will try out from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.
all three days, and the girls will try out from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 - 5:00
p.m. all three days. A copy of the registration flyer is here. Selections
will not be until after the final tryout dates (Saturday and Sunday, May 17-18,
2008).

for each team will be on Wednesday, 05/21/08, 8pm. If you check this webpage,
and the information for your team is not listed, it means the coach has yet to

'96 Girls attendees, I
wanted to congratulate all the players who have been selected for the initial
district ODP pool for the '96 Girls program. There were a lot of very talented
girls who attended the try-outs therefore standing out and making this pool is
an accomplishment in itself.
Over the 3 days of try-outs the evaluators
were looking for skills and behaviors in players that will be needed to compete
at the higher levels of ODP, as a group of coaches (Simon Cook and Tom Brough)
our goal is to develop and prepare all the players for this next level of competition.
If you have not made this squad of 32 please do not be disheartened, take the
try-outs as a learning experience, go back to your club teams, work hard and come
back again next year.
This pool of 32 are ultimately playing for a place
in the final squad of 20 players, therefore between now and the 1st training session
please continue to work hard at practice and games on the following areas:
Technical Consistency, Speed of Play and Speed of Transition.

hundred players participated over the last two weekends making the selection process

DISTRICT ODP INFORMATION - READ THIS!! Do

for the registration form.
Players—District
II Olympic Development Program (ODP) tryouts will be held at the Morgan Hill soccer
complex on the weekend of Sat., May 10, 2008 and Sat & Sun. May 17-18, 2008.
District II will form boys and girls teams in four age groups this year: Any registered
CYSA player born in these years and not chosen to a State ODP pool in March is
eligible to register for District II ODP tryouts. Players
born will be able to attend one of a number of statewide tryouts held to select
a list of invitees to State ODP Tryouts in March 2008. Dates and times for these
U17 tryouts (typically held in the summer and early fall) will be on the CYSA-North
web site in the coming months. The
ODP selection process starts at the District level. District ODP pools may be
formed in each of the nine districts from players within your own district. Players
wishing to participate in their District ODP must do so within the district that
they are registered. Players may not try out in districts other than in which
they are registered. Open tryouts for U13, U14, U15, U16 (Birth years- 92,93,94,
and 95) boys and girls are conducted each spring (April-June). Each district administers
their own tryouts. January-December birth years will prevail for ODP only. League
and club teams will remain on the August 1st to July 31st format. ABOUT
ODP:
The Olympic
Development Program is a national process for identifying and developing the best
youth soccer players. The process promotes players to the U.S. National Teams,
which represent the United States in international competition, such as the Youth
World Cup and the Olympics. The main ODP objective is to identify, evaluate and
train highly talented male and female youth soccer players.
As part of this national effort, the CYSA ODP is dedicated to developing the highest
level of youth soccer. This objective must be achieved in an atmosphere of integrity,
fairness and impartiality. The player's physical and cognitive skills and attitude
must be the only criteria for the program. The procedure to achieve this objective
must be approved by the CYSA Board of Directors and must not conflict with any
US Youth Soccer or United States Soccer Federation (USSF) policies. The secondary
objectives are to: bullet Evaluate and select players in each ODP age group for
a State pool of players from which State Team players are selected. bullet Advance
the soccer skills of players in each ODP age group. bullet Provide competitions
for State Teams in each ODP age group. While
individual leagues or districts may have additional objectives for their local
programs, those objectives must not adversely affect the success of the ODP. ODP
participation does not mean that players do not participate on their club team.
ODP participation, whether at the District, State, Regional or National level,
is concurrent with club team participation. The advantages outweigh any conflicts
this might pose Evaluators—Additional
